FAQ

What does Harvard author–date look like in the text?

Cite the surname and year in parentheses, for example (Smith, 2021). Add a page number when you quote: (Smith, 2021, p. 14). Match every citation to a full reference-list entry.

How is a Harvard reference list arranged?

List entries alphabetically by author surname. The year follows the author in parentheses. Italicise book and journal titles; use single quotes for article titles in many UK house styles.

Is there one official Harvard style?

No. Harvard is a family of author–date styles. Universities publish their own variants. Citation Pack offers a simplified GB-oriented student template — always prefer your institution’s guide.
