Reference list vs Works Cited
- APA and many Harvard variants use a References heading.
- MLA uses Works Cited. Citation Pack renames the preview heading when you switch styles.
Ordering and hanging indent
- Alphabetize by the first author’s surname (or by title if no author).
- Use a hanging indent on the finished list; the builder preview applies one.
- Click Sort A–Z in the builder to reorder the stored entries before copying.
What every APA line usually needs
- Author (or group author) and year in parentheses.
- Title of the work (italicize books and journals; sentence-case article titles).
- Source details: publisher, journal + volume/pages, or URL/DOI as required.
Quick self-check
- Every in-text (Author, Year) has a matching reference.
- Years and spelling match the source title page.
- You have not mixed MLA quotation marks into an APA list after switching styles without proofreading.
